Dearest Li Hui was leaving for the states soon and we decided to meet up for a meal before she returns for another 6 months.. Thanks to Si Han’s recommendation, we were going to have lunch at The Marmalade Pantry.. It was previously at Palais Renaissance, so we all made our way there, except that all of us were late at the agreed time for like half an hour?
Unfortunately, to our dismay, we found out that the location has been shifted to ion orchard, so we all had to make our way to ion Orchard for our lunch meet up.
So, we sat down and took our own sweet time to pick our choice for lunch while catching up on things we have not talked about for like centuries…
I picked the following:
SOFT SCRAMBLED EGGS $21.00
& HOUSE-CURED SALMON
with horseradish creme
fraiche on pumpernickel
To be honest, it was seriously overpriced, given the miser portions.. They should have thrown a salad by the side or something.. I wouldn’t recommend this dish anyway, it was a wrong choice by me cuz I wanted to have scrambled eggs..
THE MARMALADE BURGER $24.00
with roast tomato chutney
I can’t remember what Si Han had, but if I weren’t wrong, she had the marmalade burger.. As you can see in the pictures above and below.. It was served with fresh deep fried tapioca slices which tasted exactly like tapioca chips that my mum used to buy.. Well, It was certainly more worth it than what I got.. :)
STEAK SANDWICH $20.00
with wasabi mayonnaise,
caramelized onions and rocket
Li Hui on the other hand, ordered something which I felt was the best deal of the day. I guessed I shouldn’t have put myself off when I saw the wasabi mayonnaise. Oh well, if I ever have to go there again (I won’t because its way overpriced!) for a friend’s meetup, I will definitely order the steak sandwich.. :D

One problem with the menu. They were going for the classic fine dining look. This means there are no pictures to help you taste the food with your eyes before you make your choice.. So my advice would be to look at your neighbouring customer’s food and ask what’s that to the waiter and waitresses (which weren’t very helpful and slow in serving water) before you order..
The three amigos!
