Two Nights of Stay at Ritz Carlton

Mummy got a free two night stay at Ritz Carlton hotel because she was a finalist for Women of the Year 2009. So having the voucher to be expired soon, we simply had to use it, and what better time than for her birthday?

They actually had a runner’s tag for hotel guests to go for their runs and make sure they don’t get lost..

And of course, the beautiful cake I baked for my mother’s birthday… Everything was made by me, except I did not plant my own strawberries and mangoes.. But I make the chocolate decorations.. And the whole cake was made with mango slices and mandarin orange slices..P9200189 P9200190 P9200191

Filming for 过好年 with Rui En

Had filming for a part time role with Mediacorp today. Was filming with a Malaysian, now popular in Taiwan male artist. But I’m not sure of his name.

I was supposed to be the guy’s matchmaking partner. Haha..
P9140172
Is Rui En as cold as people say? Well, she’s not exactly cold, but the kind of girl who will respond if you talk to her, and not initiate a conversation if you don’t talk to her.

And of course my childhood idol, Chen Tian Wen, he is really funny..

Casa Roma Ristorante at Bukit Timah Road.. After my Italian Dinner in Tasmania Australia, I was really looking forward to another Italian dining with fresh focaccia and authentic food.. The starters were great.. Mushroom soup and Garlic bread. You know bread is fresh when you just eat it. Foe some reason the local bread just lack the freshness of rustic and European breads. Its probably the flour, since many different types of special floor are often involved and they need to make their own starter dough.

I had a Venison rib and pizza. Of course, I shared!! The meal was really great except that the restaurant was a little dark. Dark restaurants are certainly a big no no…

Swensen’s Ice Cream Buffet at Ion Orchard

Sugar Overload!!!! Ice Cream buffet sounds really great with all the sinful chocolates, mini oreos, wafers, a whole lot of ice cream, waffles, marshmallows, chocolate fountains (White chocolate and dark chocolate) But as good as everything sounds, there is only that much sugar one can take. After a few bowls of ice cream, we could literally faint from the sugar overload… Nope.. You won’t be full. But you will be so sick of the sugar that you need to order some fries… Or some thing salty for that matter..P9040143

The Marmalade Pantry

Dearest Li Hui was leaving for the states soon and we decided to meet up for a meal before she returns for another 6 months.. Thanks to Si Han’s recommendation, we were going to have lunch at The Marmalade Pantry.. It was previously at Palais Renaissance, so we all made our way there, except that all of us were late at the agreed time for like half an hour? P9040123
Unfortunately, to our dismay, we found out that the location has been shifted to ion orchard, so we all had to make our way to ion Orchard for our lunch meet up. P9040124 P9040127

So, we sat down and took our own sweet time to pick our choice for lunch while catching up on things we have not talked about for like centuries…
P9040131
I picked the following:
SOFT SCRAMBLED EGGS $21.00
& HOUSE-CURED SALMON
with horseradish creme
fraiche on pumpernickel
To be honest, it was seriously overpriced, given the miser portions.. They should have thrown a salad by the side or something.. I wouldn’t recommend this dish anyway, it was a wrong choice by me cuz I wanted to have scrambled eggs..
P9040129 P9040122
THE MARMALADE BURGER $24.00
with roast tomato chutney
I can’t remember what Si Han had, but if I weren’t wrong, she had the marmalade burger.. As you can see in the pictures above and below.. It was served with fresh deep fried tapioca slices which tasted exactly like tapioca chips that my mum used to buy.. Well, It was certainly more worth it than what I got.. :)
P9040133   P9040138 P9040139
STEAK SANDWICH $20.00
with wasabi mayonnaise,
caramelized onions and rocket
Li Hui on the other hand, ordered something which I felt was the best deal of the day. I guessed I shouldn’t have put myself off when I saw the wasabi mayonnaise. Oh well, if I ever have to go there again (I won’t because its way overpriced!) for a friend’s meetup, I will definitely order the steak sandwich.. :D

One problem with the menu. They were going for the classic fine dining look. This means there are no pictures to help you taste the food with your eyes before you make your choice.. So my advice would be to look at your neighbouring customer’s food and ask what’s that to the waiter and waitresses (which weren’t very helpful and slow in serving water) before you order..
